This beautiful bridge is situated within the peaceful woodlands of Glasdrum Wood National Nature Reserve at Glen Creran.
We walked to the bridge from the road below, which was a short uphill climb passing a waterfall on the way. As we followed the path through the trees you can clearly see by the amount of moss covering the trees, ground and stones it has been here for a very long time. The path then opens to a small clearing and there she is!
The bridge and surrounding area have a real vibe of magic, mystery and being of another world. A lovely peaceful place to spend some quiet time if you get the chance.
Not much is known about the exact age or history of this bridge however it is believed to have been built around the 1500s. You can continue your walk once you have crossed the bridge following the Pine Marten trail with great views of Beinn Sgulaird across the glen.
For the campers – we stayed at North Ledaig Campsite, next to Oban airport. It accommodates caravans, campervans and motorhomes only, and the whole site faces west which allows for the most spectacular sunsets. From here it is approximately 25 mins drive to the Fairy Bridge, and also to Port Appin if you want to catch the passenger ferry to the Isle of Lismore.
