The Nine Tides is a spectacular natural phenomenon caused by opposing tidal rips rushing around the Mull, 90 minutes after low tide.
Legend has it that the tides were conjured up by 9 witches of the Mull of Galloway in an attempt to shipwreck a witchfinder who was en route across the sea from Ireland.
You can view The Nine Tides at Lagvag Point, Mull of Galloway in Scotland. On a clear day you might be lucky to see over to the coastlines of Northern Ireland, the Lake District, and the Isle of Man.
For the campers - I'd camped at Galloway Point which had great views out to sea, you can explore the ruins of Dunskey Castle and head along the coastal path to Portpatrick, and up to Killantringan Lighthouse and beyond.
